Hickory Lumber
Hickories are deciduous members of the walnut family that are recognized by their compound leaves and edible nuts.
As lumber, hickory is renowned for its strength, shock resistance, and coarse texture, making it ideal for applications such as hardwood flooring, cabinetry, and tool handles, despite being challenging to work with due to its hardness and density.

William Bartram, an early naturalist, wrote of seeing over 100 bushels of shagbark hickory nuts collected by one native Creek family. By cooking down the oils, they created a “hickory milk” for cooking. |

Our Commitment to Sustainability
Since trees take decades to reach maturity, we appreciate that the trees we harvest are there because of people who came before us. For that reason, we see ourselves as a vital link in the forests of tomorrow. We’vee inherited rich resources, and we are committed to making sure that the next generation is blessed with healthy forests as well.
Nearly all of our lumber comes from Stoltzfus Forest Products, our sister company. Like us, they are committed to sustainability, and their foresters and crews ensure that woodlands are well cared for through such practices as proper tree selection and showing respect for the soil and remaining trees during a harvest.
By sourcing our lumber from our sister company, we can have every confidence that we are doing our part for the forest of the future.
Lumber for today, forests for tomorrow.
